Paulie Malignaggi isn’t convinced any of the recent training clips of Mike Tyson are recent
Two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi has responded to the recent training clips of 57-year-old Mike Tyson, who is poised to fight Jake Paul in three months’ time, doubting whether the videos are of new footage or not.
Tyson shockingly signed to fight the Youtuber-turned-boxer this month, in a bout that could end up on his professional record, for what could be one of the biggest fights of the year, despite their 30-year discrepancy in age.
Shortly after, clips of ‘Iron’ Mike in training were posted, where he was supposedly in his fourth day of preparation, asking whether Paul ‘still wanted to f**k with him’.
However, in an interview with Lord Ping, Malignaggi had his reservations as to whether the clips were entirely accurate, suggesting that Tyson may not be in training and could be overlooking Paul as a serious competitor, lacking motivation for the contest.
“I got to say man, I’m not sure where Tyson is with his motivation. I don’t know how recent the videos are because I spoke to some people who were with Tyson not that long ago and he didn’t look the most active, I don’t know if the video reel is recent or just created to create headlines.
“I don’t know if it’s a recent video of him hitting the pads to tell you the truth because I saw some people not long ago, in the last couple of months, and he was very chilled out. He was not discussing anything physical.”
Paul-Tyson will take place on July 20th at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, and will be available to watch live on Netflix in a one-of-a-kind event, although official rules for the scrap are yet to be officially confirmed.
