Lerrone Richards won’t fight this Friday after Steed Woodall pulls out just days before
Charlie Edwards headlines Wasserman Boxing show at York Hall on Friday night, April 12, live and free on Channel 5 from 10pm
Lerrone Richards will no longer be fighting at York Hall on Friday night after his opponent was forced out through injury.
Former IBO World super-middleweight champion Richards was due to take on Steed Woodall for the WBO Intercontinental Super Middleweight title.
However, the 31-year-old from New Malden is now out of the stacked show, further adding to his inactivity that has seen him fight just twice in two years.
After dethroning the champion Carlos Gongora in December 2021, “Sniper the Boss” didn’t fight at all during 2022, but came back with wins over journeyman Harry Matthews and Central Area champion Mickey Ellison last year.
Richards’s first fight of the year was designed to get him back into the world rankings for another run at the world title, but now those plans are postponed until further notice.
Fortunately, for fight fans, the show must go on.
The Wasserman Boxing event is now headlined solely by Charlie Edwards as he launches his own bid to become a two-weight world champion, live and free on Channel 5 at 10pm.
Edwards faces former European title holder Georges Ory for the WBC International Silver Bantamweight title over 10 rounds and plans on making a statement in front of a huge national television audience.
Edwards’ highly anticipated return is supported by the latest contest for Tom Welland, one of British boxing’s hottest prospects, as well as a Southern Area title fight between Obi Egbunike and Jordan Dujon.
Jesse Brandon has a first fight of 2024 while Oliver Zaren faces a test of his potential, when he faces John Harding Jnr.
The popular Christian Fetti makes his professional debut, Brighton’s Harvey Dykes is back in action, along with Robert Lloyd-Taylor Jnr and Elliot Whale.
