KSI on Wayne Rooney: “It would be great to see him fight somebody”
Social media sensation, KSI, has been making waves in the boxing world once again, as Wayne Rooney has seemingly called the crossover boxing star out for a fight.
The YouTuber turned entrepreneur is undoubtedly one of the pioneers behind the influencer boxing trend that has taken social media by storm in recent years.
The 30-year-old, made headlines in the boxing world after two PPV mega-fights against fellow YouTuber Logan Paul, with the British star being crowned the victor after their most recent showdown in 2019.
More recently, the Misfits Boxing CEO went toe-to-toe with undefeated light heavyweight Tommy Fury. ‘The Gypsy King’s’ younger brother walked away from the showdown the victor, after an entertaining six rounds in Manchester.
In the last few weeks, KSI has been in the headlines once again. This time around he has been connected to a fight with football coach, Wayne Rooney. The England Legend has reportedly been in talks with KSI’s promotional company, Misfits Boxing, regarding a one-off boxing fight, and has seemed keen to test his luck in the ring against the YouTube star.
Speaking on his own podcast, KSI revealed that this is not the first time Wayne Rooney has been in contact with him over a potential bout.
“Fifth of December 2022, at 3.50 am; ‘Hi mate, what you think on me and you having a boxing fight? I think we could generate a lot of money, you up for it? We could sell out a stadium with the right support, and both make good money.’”
KSI went on to clarify that a fight against the Manchester United legend is not currently on his radar, although he would love to see the former footballer showcase his skills in the ring.
“It would be great to just see him fight somebody, and if he annihilates that person then yeah, fine, let’s f-king go.”
KSI has long been linked to a clash with fellow influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Although a showdown between the two is looking increasingly unlikely.
Paul is set to make his return to the ring after a spectacular first-round knockout win over Andre August in December. This time around ‘The Problem Child’ will face off against 17-2 American, Ryan Bourland. The fight is scheduled to take place this weekend in Puerto Rico.
