The Brawl to Settle it All: Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron 3 in negotiation
Both Katie Taylor (23-1, 10KO) and Chantelle Cameron (18-1, 8KO) have asked for the trilogy fight to settle the score once and for all.
IFL TV announced that the trilogy decider is looking to take place in Dublin on May 25, 2024.
Chantelle Cameron recently posted on Instagram: “Waiting for the green light for the trilogy to be a go ahead. Both me & @katie_t86 have asked for the fight to happen as it’s 1-1. My terms are fair as I want the fight to gain the chance for redemption and give female boxing the trilogy it deserves. One last dance to see who really is Undisputed at 140.”
The score between Ireland’s Taylor and England’s Cameron is currently deadlocked at 1-1.
Northampton’s Cameron, 32, won the first part of the story in May 2023. The undisputed super-lightweight champion defended her hoard of gold to the unbeaten Irish superstar on a mixed decision in enemy territory in Dublin, Ireland. Taylor was the reigning undisputed champ at lightweight and had come up to 140lbs for a shot at greatness.
Six months later, in November 2023, she realised that goal by getting revenge over her English rival to win the rematch on another mixed decision, this time going her way. Both bouts were held at the 3 Arena in Dublin.
One of the largest stadiums in Europe, Croke Park, has long been considered for staging a Katie Taylor fight, and the trilogy could certainly fill the 82,000-capacity stadia.
Taylor has sold out Madison Square Gardens in New York, when she and Amanda Serrano made history in 2022 when they became the first female fight to headline the century-old iconic venue.
Her superstar status in Ireland and rival Cameron being the only opponent to ever defeat her, both their fights being fought so closely and fiercely, the trilogy decider could become the biggest fight in female boxing history.
Not only is the score held at 1-1, but two judges have scored to Cameron, two to Taylor, and two for a draw.
If the pair manage to secure the third fight for the proposed date of May 25, then they would have completed their historic, thrilling trilogy within a year.
