Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall rematch details shared
After a prolonged wait, the much-anticipated rematch between fierce adversaries Josh Taylor (19-1, 13KO) and Jack Catterall (28-1, 13KO) now seems to have a confirmed date and venue.
Their initial encounter in Glasgow, February 2022, saw “The Tartan Tornado” controversially secure a split decision victory to retain his hoard of undisputed super-lightweight titles.
After the score was met with much disapproval, fight fans’ calls for a prompt replay went unheeded, despite ongoing social media spats between the bitter rivals.
Now, over two years later, Taylor-Catterall 2 is apprehensively upon the horizon.
ESPN reports the bout is slated for April 27 in Leeds, airing live on DAZN.
“Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall have agreed to an April 27 rematch in Leeds, England, sources tell ESPN.
“In February 2022, Josh Taylor retained his undisputed junior welterweight championship with a controversial decision over Catterall. Now they’ll fight one more time.
“The Josh Taylor-Jack Catterall rematch will be contested at 140 pounds, sources tell ESPN, and will be streamed on DAZN worldwide as part of the subscription streaming service. Long-awaited grudge match is on.”
Since their first clash, both fighters have seen limited action. Taylor faced Teofimo Lopez in June, losing his one remaining WBO title to the man who recently defended it but came under criticism for his performance.
“El Gato”, meanwhile, secured victories over Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares, sending the latter into retirement.
With confirmation imminent, anticipation builds for a fiery rematch that will finally settle the score between these two top fighters once and for all.
