Joe Joyce manager believes there could be obstacles in making a potential fight with Dillian Whyte
Founder and CEO of S-Jam Boxing, Adam Morallee, has admitted that he has one major concern regarding Joe Joyce’s proposed clash with fellow Brit, Dillian Whyte, after both men secured much needed wins last month and birthed rumours of a domestic dust-up.
Joyce fell out of the heavyweight picture completely when he suffered back-to-back knockout defeats to Zhilei Zhang last year, consequently losing his WBO interim world title and position as mandatory challenger for heavyweight gold. However, ‘The Juggernaut’ bounced back with a final-round knockout win against Kash Ali in Birmingham, albeit after a laboured performance throughout the rest of the bout.
Meanwhile, Dillian Whyte was cast aside after failing a drugs test in the build-up to his rematch with Anthony Joshua back in August, but made an under-the-radar comeback against Christian Hammer in Castlebar, Ireland last month, scoring a third-round stoppage win.
In an interview with Seconds Out, Morallee outlined his worries that Dillian Whyte may not be sanctioned to fight in the United Kingdom, but maintained his interest in the proposal should Whyte be permitted.
“We love that fight, we think that it is a great fight for both fighters. I was speaking briefly to Dillian Whyte’s management about it and I think that the situation in regards to Dillian’s ability to box in the United Kingdom is unclear. If he can box, brilliant. If he can’t, he can’t, I think that there are various legalities around it.
“That is a terrific fight for Joe right now and that is the kind of fight that we are looking for, a good fight for both men.”
Joe Joyce has also revealed his willingness to fight on the mysterious June 1st card in Saudi Arabia, with official confirmation of the undercard set to be announced on April 15th.
