Tom Schwarz calls out Jared Anderson for April fight
Tyson Fury opponent Tom Schwarz (29-1, 20KO) puts his name forward after hearing that Top Rank is currently looking for a suitable opponent for heavyweight Jared Anderson (16-0, 15KO) in April.
The undefeated American, who is currently WBO International and WBC USA heavyweight champion, is expected to return to the ring in April.
29-year-old Schwarz has been chasing big fights with the likes of Joe Joyce, Ryad Merhy and Luis Ortiz, and now sets his sights on undefeated high-ranking heavyweight champion, Anderson, who has won all but one of his 16 fights by knockout.
When asked, Fides Sports promoter Burim Sylejmani told Boxen1: “There are talks, but nothing concrete. Tom would be ready for the fight. If we get a good offer, we definitely want to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Sylejmani then denied reports that Schwarz will not be able to get a visa for the U.S. due to his past legal problems: “We were invited to sparring with Zhang Zhilei, but then had to cancel at short notice because of the EBU story. We had to apply for a visa for this, which Tom got. This is valid until the end of 2025 – so there were no problems here. I also don’t understand why people write such nonsense.”
Jared Anderson is currently ranked WBC #6, WBA #12, IBF #6, WBO #4, IBO #12 and would be the next biggest name on the German’s record since Tyson Fury in 2019.
The Magdeburger, then still under the SES flag and with Sylejmani as manager, stepped into the ring against the British behemoth in Las Vegas, losing via second-round TKO, conceding his WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title to ‘The Gypsy King’ in the process.
Since then, the 6′ 5 1⁄2″ heavyweight has won five in a row and collected the IBF International title, placing him close to the top 15 in the world.
