Jake Paul tries to tempt Tommy Fury into two more fights with lucrative offer
YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, remains keen on avenging the lone defeat of his professional career and appears determined to get one back over British rival and brother of Tyson Fury, Tommy.
10-0 cruiserweight prospect, Tommy Fury, handed ‘The Problem Child’ a first loss since becoming pro in 2020, edging a tight split-decision in an uneventful, scrappy contest. Since then, Paul has bounced back with wins over Nate Diaz and Andre August, and is now setting his sights on 24-year-old Fury once again.
In an interview with ESPN, Paul and his adviser, Nakisa Bidarian spoke of the monumental offer that they’ve made for bouts in both the ring and the cage.
JP – I don’t think [the rematch will happen]. He [Tommy Fury] is a lot of things, one of which is not very serious about the fight and actually making it happen and two – he is unrealistic in terms of offers and finances. He thinks that he is his brother [Tyson Fury] and his Dad [John] is delusional in terms of what they think that he is actually worth. I can see how that happens, they’re like ‘Tyson Fury is getting this, so Tommy should be getting this!’, no, that is not how that works brother.
NB – “We made Tommy a high, seven-figure offer for the rematch as a guarantee, and they feel that there is a lot more money out there and I think that Jake’s view is ‘great, bring more money to the table on your side’.
“He’s willing to fight him in boxing and if Jake wins he’s willing to enter the SmartCage in the PFL with Tommy and again give him another payday close to eight-figures to do that. There is a path there that is worth close to almost 20 million dollars of guaranteed money for Tommy Fury to re-engage in the Jake Paul competition.”
First, Jake Paul will return to action on March 2nd, taking on Ryan Bourland (17-2) in Puerto Rico.
