Jaime Munguia and Freddie Roach both looking for the knockout in undisputed showdown with Canelo Alvarez
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Jamie Munguia come to blows in an all-Mexican showdown this weekend and Munguia and his coach Freddie Roach are predicting a knockout.
Alvarez is putting all four of his super middleweight titles on the line against Munguia, who is six years his junior and in a fine run of form, but is very much stepping up in levels this weekend.
Despite that, speaking via the PBC boxing channel, Munguia said that he plans to get in Canelo’s face and take the fight to him.
“It is going to be an interesting fight, it is going to be a tough fight, that is for sure. We are going to come after him, we are going to look for him and, in the end, what is going to matter the most is that it is going to be an amazing fight for everybody to witness.”
“The main thing is that you have got to be careful [against Canelo], you can’t get over-confident. It is going to be a very mental fight, where we have got to pick our spots and we have got to ensure that we are being very aware of what we do inside of the ring. If we do that we are going to be fine.”
This is only the second time that Munguia has worked with the legendary trainer Freddie Roach, and last time out in their debut together, Mungia looked as good as ever when stopping the famously durable John Ryder, which is something that Caeno failed to do when he fought him last year.
As such, Roach claimed Munguia will be again looking to stop his man this weekend.
“He has been great, he works really hard and we work harder every day. We have got a couple more days to go and we are going to be ready. I am looking for a knockout, yes, and I think that he [Jaime] is also.”
The fight will be shown live on DAZN this Saturday night and many people have been making their predictions.
