Eddie Hearn attempts to make Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr.
Matchroom Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, has revealed that an offer has been made to unbeaten Arnold Barboza Jr. (30-0, 11KO) to fight Jack Catterall (29-1, 13KO) next.
LA’s Barboza Jr. is ranked WBO #1 in the super-lightweight division, so the winner of this potential showdown will become mandatory to the WBO champion, Teofimo Lopez.
Replying directly to Arnold Barboza Jr.’s tweet on X, the British promoter confirmed that an offer had been sent, “Hi Arnold. The offer was sent to GB [Golden Boy] on Wednesday and we are in communication with them. We hope to see you soon.”
Jack Catterall was last out on May 25 where he was able to exact revenge upon his rival Josh Taylor to reverse the only defeat in his career.Catterall defeated Taylor by unanimous decision in the 12-round super-lightweight main event at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, 27 months after losing controversially in their first fight.
32-year-old American Barboza Jr. has fought twice this year, in January, then April against Irishman Sean McComb, winning both times to reach 30-0.
