June 29: Hughie Fury is back
Heavyweight contender, and cousin of the former WBC Heavyweight World Champion, Hughie Fury (28-3, 16KO) returns for his third fight in as many months as he continues his climb through the Heavyweight ranks.
GBM Sports will return to the Midlands with ‘Into The Fire’ taking place at the Skydome, Coventry on Saturday 29th June, broadcast LIVE and FREE on talkSPORT.
The tough heavyweight from one of most renowned fighting lineages won the respect and admiration of fans when he challenged the likes of world champion Joseph Parker and seasoned operators in Kubrat Pulev and Alexander Povetkin, which remain his only three losses.
Illness kept Hughie out of the ring for almost three years, but now he is firmly back in the picture, preparing for his third fight in 10 weeks.
April 20 saw the 2012 World Youth Amateur Champion defeat Ukrainian journeyman Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko in his comeback fight after 30 months absence from action.
Then he was back inside the ropes just three weeks later to knock out German ‘Big Patrick’ Korte in two rounds.
His next opponent is yet to be confirmed, but if the Mancunian is looking to keep building back to the top, then it could be another known name, like Korte, who was a respectable German and IBO Continental champion.
Still only 29 years of age, Fury hopes, like his former opponent Joseph Parker, that activity will unlock his world title dreams in 2024.
‘Into The Fire’
The main event sees Danny Quartermaine (11-0-0) and Frenchman Karim Guerfi (32-7-0) battle for the Brit’s IBF and the vacant WBO European titles
Someone’s 0 has got to go as one of Britain’s brightest prospects, Nyall Berry (10-0-0), who wowed fans on Sky Sports with his dazzling fluidity yet ruthlessly spiteful style, looks to continue his undefeated reign against fellow undefeated fighter Francesco De Rosa (8-0-0) for the IBF European Super Bantamweight Title.
In a mouth-watering 50:50 clash, Ashlee Eales (10-0-0) takes on James Richardson (7-1-0) for the BBBofC Midlands Area Super Welterweight Title. Local bragging rights will be up for grabs along with the Midlands title as the pair bring huge crowds to the Coventry Skydome for the must-see brawl.
Nabil Messaoudi (10-0-0, 10KOs) puts his perfect record on the line against Asinia Byfield (16-6-1) who has never been stopped. This is brutal power meeting an iron chin in a 50:50 fight that could go either way.
New GBM signings, fan favourite and close friend of Conor McGregor, Tiernan Bradley (9-0-0) will look to extend his winning record on the card.
The fierce puncher’s fellow countryman Kieran Molloy (8-0-0) who recently signed a long-term deal with GBM Sports after previously being signed to Top Rank will also return to action on the stacked card after going to war in a thrilling contest on his GBM debut.
In an action packed night of boxing, Harvey Lambert (4-0-0), River Wilson-Bent (16-4-2), Arlo Stephens (1-0-0), Scott Melvin (9-1-0), and Niall Farrell (29-17-0) return to action on the card.
Promoter Izzy Asif said: “GBM are known for 50:50 thrilling fights. We’re building huge stars here, and now they go into the fire. We’ve got three title fights, four undefeated stars risking losing their zero – and some incredible heavyweight action. 2024 has been a huge year for us with sold out shows, and we’re just getting started.”
