Hughie Fury is back!
After almost three years away from the ring, Hughie Fury has now broken his silence about a surprise ring return.Hughie Fury has fought plenty of big names in his career, including Joseph Parker who he challenged for the WBO world title back in 2017, but ultimately lost on points.
He has also fought Kubrat Pulev and lost on points a year later, and then took on the likes of Alexander Povetkin and recent Dillian Whyte victim, Christian Hammer, in his last fight in 2021.
He won when Hammer retired in his corner after five rounds and has since been battling various health issues, which is an ongoing skin condition that causes fatigue and affects his immune system. It was this condition that caused his withdrawal from a WBA World title final eliminator fight with Michael Hunter in 2022.
Hughie is now back in action with GBM, to be broadcast live on TalkSport, in a card titled ‘Coming of Age’ at the Magna Centre in Rotherham, on Saturday, April 20, with names like Shakiel Thomson, Tiernan Bradley, Kieran Molloy and Nicola Hopewell also fighting.
Speaking to Boxing Now, Fury has provided an update on where he is at, “They’re good friends of my dad’s so the show has come up and I want to get out and be as busy as I can.
“Instead of waiting for fights to happen, I need to start moving my career forward and be active. To have a date set in stone and finally be out there is amazing. We’ve been training for a while now. There’s been no dates, you get stale and get fed up but now there’s a date and hopefully another one straight after it.
“I just want to get in there, get the cobwebs off then get back to the top.”
An opponent for Fury’s return will be named soon.
