Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua’s next fight all depends on the outcome of Fury-Usyk on May 18
Promoter Eddie Hearn is working on Anthony Joshua’s next fight and has now been discussing potential opponents for the in-form heavyweight as he fights to get back into world title contention.
Hearn’s efforts to secure another major match for Joshua are in full swing following Joshua’s impressive performances against Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
The upcoming undisputed heavyweight title showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk presents an enticing opportunity for Joshua to potentially face the winner. It is a matchup with Fury that fans would most like to see, given that he has already lost twice to Usyk.
Rumours suggest that Joshua could return to the ring in September, with plans for a Riyadh Season event in London. If these plans materialise, the winner of Daniel Dubois vs Fillip Hrgovic on June 1 have been named as potential opponents who could stand in the opposite corner and he was asked about the by Boxing Social.
“Anything can happen. There have been a lot of conversations. We know the Riyadh Season card has been locked in on August 3rd and there’s the possibility of that London card in September.
“Nothing is cemented, but if that card takes place there is a good chance AJ could fight on it. Against who? I don’t know. We’ll see what happens first on May 18 and everyone is looking to see who comes through that.
“Then you’ve got Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois, and Zhilei Zhang vs Deontay Wilder, see what happens with the IBF title. Literally, anything could happen.”
Joshua vs Wilder or Fury are the two fights fans would most like to see, so now it’s just a waiting game.
