Nathan Heaney vs Brad Pauls 2 fight night results reported live
BBN are reporting live all night tonight as Nathan ‘Hitman’ Heaney (18-0-1, 6KO) rematches Brad ‘The Newquay Bomb’ Pauls (18-1-1, 10KO) on July 20, in the main event of a packed Queensberry Promotions show in Birmingham.
Their first British title fight back in March ended in a draw, so the middleweight rivals will lock horns again, but neither man will want to leave it to chance this time around.
One of the UK’s most exciting fighters Andrew Cain challenges champion Ashley Lane for his British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles.
The action starts live on Queensberry’s YouTube channel at 4:30pm, followed by TNT Sports at 6pm.

Owen Cooper vs Ekow Essuman
10×3 English & WBO European welterweight titles
First upset of the night but many would’ve predicted this as it was perhaps a step up too soon. Cooper stopped in the final round of 10.
Cooper landed a big left hand in the third, but Essuman shook it off. ‘The Engine’ backed the home fighter up to the ropes in the fifth, gambling a bit by putting a lot of energy and belief into his attacks. Every round was hard and nip and tuck, difficult to score.
When they separated, it was Cooper who landed the eyecatching shots, but Essuman was best up close throwing relentless punches. His determination to prove everyone wrong was visible and admiral. He was a man on a mission and his hard work paid off in the sixth when he put the younger prospect down.
In the seventh, he kept up the same energy, never yielding. Cooper was in the fight of his life and he was badly troubled and harassed by the former British champion.
Then, in the ninth, there was incredible drama when Cooper reached in to land a huge right hand from afar that completely cleaned Ekow out, but miraculously he jumped straight back to his feet. The way he fell looked like he was knocked out cold on his feet.
Then more drama in the 10th, as Essuman started the 10th round strongly with a left hook to send Cooper staggering back into the corner where he ran after him and threw unending left and right hooks, a sixth of a seven punch combo was the left hook that KO’d Cooper heavily to end the fight. And what a fight it was!
Essuman becomes the new WBO European welterweight champion as he announced his comeback very loudly for the rest of the 147-pound decision to hear.
Ezra Taylor vs Carlos Alberto Lamela
10×3 WBC International light-heavyweight titles
Ezra Taylor claimed the WBC International light-heavyweight belt with scores of 99-91 twice and 97-93.
Solomon Dacres vs Michael Webster 2
10×3 English heavyweight title
Solomon Dacres defended his English heavyweight championship with a fifth round TKO, beating Webster for a second time.
When they first met in November 2023, Dacres was able to take Webster’s ‘0’ but only just, on a mixed decision, with one judge scoring it a draw after a gritty battle.
This time it was conclusive.
Chantelle Cameron vs Elhem Mekhaled
10×2 WBC Interim World super-lightweight title
Cameron returned to the ring with a points win – mixed decision. A big left hand in first two minutes sent Mekhaled onto the backfoot and Cameron looked like she was trying to finish things in the first.
A big right hook to the body in the second stanza came from instruction, Grant Smith audibly urging the Brit to go downstairs.
Mekhaled kept firing back but was stumbling by the fourth. The pair were tangled up exchanging big hooks up close.
Cameron wasn’t having it all her own way though, the French ‘Diamond’ Mekhaled was matching her energy and output and landing clean shots of her own, but there was a clear gap in power.
Cameron is known for her high workrate and pressure and she found her equal in Mekhaled. Put these together at any time and you will be treated to a dramatic, action-filled fight. German judge Juergen Langos saw it as a draw but the other two had it widely to Cameron with scores of 99-92 and 98-92.
The 33-year-old likeable ‘Wham Bam’ Cameron lifted the WBC Interim super-lightweight title, only the third ever owner of the belt.
She will be forced to await the winner of Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor on November 15, the latter holding all of the marbles – the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring belts. But she has already taken note of that and called for a fight with fellow Brit, Natasha Jonas.
Ashley Lane vs Andrew Cain
12×3 British & Commonwealth bantamweight titles
Cain was sensational, every punch he landed was backed with power, venom and spite. Lane was his usual brave, busy, incessant self, but his head was rocked every which way viciously.
Cain came straight out the corner with a left jab to the body. Lane replied with a jab that Cain ducked under and a countered with a left hook.
Lane took the fight to close quarters, as expected, but Cain could box inside and outside and was never troubled by the relentless champion, happy to be pinned in the corner absorbing shots and throwing back big hooks.
In the fourth, backed to the ropes again, Cain landed a swift, powerful left and right hook that really caught Lane’s attention, but he came back inside and was rocked back with two big uppercuts but just stayed grounded, barely moving an inch.
Later in the fourth, a left hook stunned the champ, his feet disobeying his head momentarily, but he regained composure to continue onwards and even landed two big straight rights, perhaps looking more powerful than they were because Cain rode the punches.
In the fifth, a short, potent left hook once again shook the legs of the defending champion, but still he came forward, then he took another big right as Cain backed up, but a further barrage of punches sent the titlist back into the ropes where another three-four punches sent him to the canvas.
Patiently, Cain bounced on his toes, almost looking like he didn’t want it to end because he was having too much fun in there, but then another flush right hand signalled the start of the end, a left body shot was the final nail in the coffin to floor Lane a second time and end the fight.
Lane was game, but Cain was scarily powerful. There’s no bantamweights in Britain that will be able to take the punishment Cain dishes out, perhaps none in the world. If Charlie Edwards wins the European belt in September then there’s a fantastic fight to be made there.
Main Event
Nathan Heaney vs Brad Pauls 2
12×3 British & WBA Continental middleweight titles
It was another back and for the battle, almost a carbon copy of the first fight, with Heaney starting brightly again, but Pauls closing the gap over time to land his powerful ‘Newquay Bombs’ to score a knockdown in the fourth and eventually win by 12th round KO.
Round one saw Heaney landing his rangy jabs and one-twos catching Pauls flush. The Essex-based fighter landed some big left hooks to body and head in the second, but Heaney was in control of the opening few rounds until Pauls landed an incredible right hook to the chin to floor the champion in the fourth.
It was a peach of a punch, you could use it as a study tape. The Cornish challenger slipped a jab to his right then threw the big right hand with all the power from his hips and Heaney showed strength to get straight back up from it.
Heaney was unperturbed and continued to battle on and come forward, but Pauls power was visibly higher than his and every shot threatened to end the fight.
Pauls looked a bit troubled by body shots in the ninth, but he never stopped throwing back. Heaney was fighting for dear life knowing that his belts were in danger of being stolen from him/
In the 11th Heaney was staggering around the ring after two right hands to the head caused him to backpedal. With only one round left, Pauls threw the kitchen sink at him, determined not to leave it in the hands of the judges again.
His ceaseless left and right hooks floored the champ again in the 12th and although he got back to his feet, the fight had been bashed out of him and couldn’t – perhaps didn’t want to – beat the count.
You could tell by Pauls’ reaction to the stoppage and then to his name being called as the new British middleweight champion just how much the victory meant to him. He has achieved every British boxer’s dream – to win the Lonsdale belt.
