Ryan Garcia sends warning to Errol Spence over legal battle with trainer Derrick James
Errol Spence Jr has filed a lawsuit against his former coach Derrick James and now James’s current charge, Ryan Garcia, has fired a warning to the former welterweight champion.
Garcia and James must be riding his of their huge upset win over Devin Haney which saw Garcia, who missed weight, put down the former undisputed lightweight champion turned WBC super lightweight belt holder put down three times on his way to a points defeat this last weekend, but now James has got another fight on his hands, the time in the courts.
The suit is in pursuit of payments owed to him from the former welterweight world champion and he is looking for “no less than $5 million” for fraud and breach of contact.
Garcia has done as he often does and taken to social media to issue his warning, and it comes in the form of a fight call out for Spence Jr.
The video, in which Garcia appears rather inebriated, has been captured and shared on X by Michael Benson.
“Yeh, Spence got beef with my coach. You wanna sue him? I wanna beat you up. facts, bro. Knock out Errol, nice.”
Spence and James had been working together ever since before the 2012 Olympic Games so have a relationship that gets back a long way but it has now soured.
Garcia is the one enjoying success with James and has been active since the fight in calling out all sorts of people from Conor Benn to Sebastian Fundora to a rematch with Gervonta Davis, so how serious he is about fighting Spence is unsure.
