Devin Haney supposedly rocked by Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis
The online back and forth between Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20KOs) and Devin Haney (31-0, 15KOs) continues following the announcement of their April 20th meeting.
Throughout the build-up to the pay-per-view spectacle, there has been an abundance of speculation and trash talk – from Garcia – surrounding supposed sparring footage between Haney and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
The 25-year-old has long claimed that the footage, shown to him by Floyd Mayweather, showcases Davis getting the better of Haney back when the world champion was a teenager.
In a bid to back up his claims, and rile up ‘The Dream’, Garcia took to YouTube, leaking footage of the session.
The ‘Golden Boy’ fighter followed up with a post on X, surprisingly seeming to sympathise with his opponent.
“There’s more to that tape, I’m really interested in the whole video. Plus In my opinion. Devin was 16-17 and tank was already developed and becoming a man.
“I actually think Devin figured out a way to walk out with that money under dog house rules.”
Haney was quick to reply to the leak, shaming Garcia for failing to make the count when he lost to Davis in April last year.
“Never did they post a chopped up edited video. 16 years old & in there holding my own. We bet AB pops & he honored it & paid! Ryan we watched u quit we are not the same & never will be tune in April 20th I’ll show it!”
The announcement of the fight came as a surprise to many. ‘KingRy’ had reportedly lost interest in the fight and had moved on to chasing a matchup against Rolando Romero.
Despite a long and rocky road leading up to the fight’s announcement, the two rivals will finally settle their beef in New York in their highly anticipated April showdown.
