Shane Fury has responded to Johnny Nelson’s comments regarding a potential mole in the camp for Tyson Fury’s preparation for Oleksandr Usyk
Fury’s undisputed world title bout against Oleksandr Usyk was set to to take place on February 17th, but a cut sustained by Fury during sparring saw the bout postponed until May 18th.
In the lead-up to the original date, much speculation was made about ‘The Gypsy King’s’ preparation, as rumours floated about that he was having a bad camp, and Sky pundit Nelson claimed that these rumours were true.
In an interview with Boxing King Media, Shane Fury addressed these rumours, and categorically states that Nelson’s information was false.
“Nothing really destructs the camp when you’re dealing with someone who’s rock solid like Tyson. he’s not bothered about anything like that.
“But, if the the stuff what Johnny Nelson was saying was correct, it probably would be worrying and who the f*** is the mole. I think the only person who Johnny Nelson has probably got connections with in the camp would be would be Greg from Sheffield and that from Brendan Ingle’s gym. By the
way, a good friend of Tyson’s and a nice guy.“But the information what Johnny Nelson was putting out was just simply not true, so if it was coming from Greg it would have been different information than that and he’d have probably got the truth if someone was there.
“I’d like to know who mole is, but it wasn’t alarming to us because it was totally false information.
“I’ve mentioned Greg, and Greg will probably watch this and he’ll get pissed, but with him being from Sheffield and that and this mole, well it might be, that’s the only mole I can come up with and I can can’t see Greg to telling, for one, being the mole because Greg’s worked with a lot of fighters and we’ve been we’ve with him and he hasn’t mentioned anything about any fighters and we we’ve asked like just in conversations about questions he says listen he said if I tell him about him I’m going to be telling someone about you and he said I don’t do that so Greg’s 100.
“And, I only mentioned Greg because that’s the mole, what from Sheffield and so on, whatever but if the information what Johnny Nelson was saying was correct then it’d be worrying, but it’s quite comical.”
Tyson Fury will now have his sights on the rescheduled May 18th date, as he looks to become the first undisputed world heavyweight champion when he faces Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
