Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk undisputed fight rescheduled already
Despite suffering a cut in training last week, a new date has already been set for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk for May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The new date comes just three months on from the original showdown set for February 17, so fight fans won’t be made to wait that much longer for the first undisputed heavyweight clash of the century.
Fury suffered from a cut on his right eye during a sparring session on Friday, February 2, on the same area he was lacerated by Otto Wallin during their 2019 bloody battle. The unheralded underdog from Sweden managed to cut Fury with a right hand early during the 12-round contest in Las Vegas, that later required 47 stitches.
The WBC champion will now be sidelined for a few weeks while he allows his injury to heal, while Oleksandr Usyk is “talking” to IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic in a bid to fight on the Feb 17 date he has been preparing for, according to promoter Alex Krassyuk.
