Clarke continues in his career
Heavyweight Frazer Clarke describes his devastating and painful first-round loss to Fabio Wardley as “just a blip in the road.”
33-year-old ‘Big Fraze’ has insisted he will not be retiring from boxing following his KO defeat to Fabio Wardley, he told @talkSPORT, “I hold my hands up, my team did a fantastic job, it was my mistake and it cost me.
“My pride is still dented now but the fighter in me knows that I will be back. I’m 33, but I’m in the prime of my life. I’m the fittest now I’ve ever been in my whole career, so I’m not looking for it to be over. If anything it is just a blip in the road.”
From Burton upon Trent, Clarke and Wardley fought to a split-decision draw in March in what was one of the best British heavyweight title fights of modern times.
But, in the Riyadh rematch, defending British and Commonwealth champ Wardley demolished Clarke in just 148 seconds after painfully breaking his jaw.
Clarke has had successful surgery on both his jaw and cheekbone immediately after the devastating defeat, but the Olympic bronze medallist is looking ahead to 2025 positively.
