Big Frank Warren show in the summer reported to feature Dennis McCann vs Ionut Baluta 2
Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren has plenty of big shows already lined-up for the coming months, but now news has surfaced there might be another big boxing event in the works.
72-year-old Londoner Warren will be out in Saudi Arabia twice during the next month, firstly on May 18 when his main man Tyson Fury takes on Oleksandr Usyk in the much anticipated and already once delayed undisputed heavyweight showdown.
He will then return on June 1 when his promotional outfit Queensbury takes on his rival Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom in the exciting 5 on 5 match-up featuring the likes of Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic; Zhilei Zhang vs Deontay Wilder and many more. Those fights are the undercard to an epic main event between Dimitri Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, who will be contesting the undisputed light-heavyweight crown.
Now Warren could well be serving up a big card in the UK not long after that, according to reports.
Everything Boxing posted the news on X of the potential Queensbury Promotions event, which is claimed could happen in July in Birmingham.
“Queensberry Promotions are rumoured to be planning a big card on July 20 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham which could feature Nathan Heaney, Liam Davies (possibly against Shabaz Masoud), Dennis McCann-Ionut Baluta 2, and multiple other title fights.”
British champion Nathan Heaney is looking to get back to winning ways after fighting to a draw against challenger Brad Pauls last time out.
The new IBO super-bantamweight world champion Liam Davies will be making a first defence of the title he won after knocking out Erik Robles Ayala in the second round back in March.
And, last August, Dennis McCann’s super-bantamweight contest against Ionut Baluta ended in a majority draw after an accidental clash of heads in round nine, so a rematch would be welcomed by all.
