Frank Warren knows Jake Paul very well
Boxing promoter Frank Warren has hailed YouTube sensation Jake Paul as a “genius” following his well-documented win over heavyweight boxing legend, Mike Tyson earlier this month.
Paul beat Tyson via a unanimous decision in Arlington, Texas over the course of eight brutal two-minute rounds, broadcast to millions around the world on Netflix.
In the wake of that victory, Daniel Dubois sent a message to 27-year-old Paul on Instagram offering him a fight and Warren lauded the YouTuber in the aftermath of that bout.
Speaking to the Parimatch boxing team, the Hall of Fame promoter revealed: “Jake Paul is a genius.
“I like Jake and Nakisa [Bidarian – Paul’s manager]. We have worked with them and they are really, really nice people.
“Jake is very smart but what you see is not what you get with Jake. When you sit down with him, he is a very intelligent guy.
“They have found their niche in the sporting market. He has gone from a YouTuber to taking out his boxing licence. He fought Tommy Fury and did well in patches in that fight and he has done really well.”
Warren added that Daniel Dubois would fight Jake Paul in a flash – only if he believed Paul would entertain the idea.
The question was posed by BetVictor’s boxing site team to Warren in the wake of Dubois sending a message on Instagram to Paul following the latter’s sensational win over Mike Tyson.
Warren warned that whilst Dubois was under his wing at Queensbury Promotions, he would be selecting his fights and also explained how he thinks Paul wouldn’t get into a ring with the IBF heavyweight champion – yet.
Warren said: “No-one can offer any fights on behalf of Daniel, except myself and Queensbury.
“We would do that fight in a heartbeat but would Jake do it? No, I don’t believe he is ready to fight Daniel Dubois.
“In terms of Daniel’s next fight, it will be sorted out very, very soon. Following on from Daniel’s message to Jake, a fight with him is not something we have considered at all.”
