The forfeit bet that Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn has arranged is just a little bit whacky!
Queensberry Promoter Frank Warren is gearing up for his ‘five versus five’ card where his stable will go head-to-head with that of rival promoter, Eddie Hearn. Now, Warren has revealed an outlandish forfeit that the losing team must suffer, should they be whitewashed.
As if the allure of the undisputed light-heavyweight title clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol was not enough to whet the appetite of boxing fans around the globe, newfound Saudi catalyst Turk Alalshikh added a one-of-a-kind undercard that will see five Queensberry fighters pitted up against five of Matchroom’s.
The card has now been revealed in full, with two world titles expected to be on the line before the historic crowing of a first four-belt 175lb champion, but to add even further excitement to the night, Warren and Hearn have announced a wager that would further embarrass the losing team.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Warren explained why his Event Manager and Matchroom’s CEO should be more concerned about the bet than he or Hearn.
“The loser, if it is 5-0, we have done a deal where Frank Smith has to come over to my office to make the teas for the day and he has got to do it dressed as a French maid!
“If it is the other way around, then Andy Ayling has to go over to Matchroom dressed as a butler and serves them for the day!”
The event will take place on June 1st in Saudi Arabia, where five 50/50 contests make up one of the strongest cards from top to bottom in recent memory, possibly outdoing the ‘Day of Reckoning’ bill that was also littered with superstars, but predominantly positioned them in one-sided bouts.
