Former Tyson Fury opponent Francis Ngannou has claimed that he is no longer the No.1 heavyweight in the world
This is a claim, that Anthony Joshua agrees with, which is one thing he and French-Cameroonian heavyweight opponent Ngannou have in common. They are set to face each other this weekend in Saudi Arabia over 10 rounds when Joshua will be hoping to do a better job on the former UFC star than Fury did back in October. That fight saw Fury remain tentative throughout, suffer a knockdown down in the third round, to just narrowly win on points.
It was a superb debut from Ngannou, who has conquered the UFC and is now making big waves in the squared circle.
Whoever comes out on top this weekend will likely get a shot at the winner of the historic undisputed fight on May 18 when Fury takes on WBA, WBO, and IBF belt holder Oleksandr Usyk.
Ahead of that, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ has been speaking to DAZN about his old foe Fury.
A message posted on X by the broadcaster states that “@francis_ngannou doesn’t think @tyson_fury is the number 1 heavyweight ” along with a video clip in which he corrects the presenter when he mentions that Fury is number one.
“He’s not the number one anymore.”
He was then asked who is the leading heavyweight on the planet.
“That’s a good question. But I have a win over him. So in my book, in my ranking, I am ahead of him.”
