Francis Ngannou threatens to take Anthony Joshua’s soul and questions his strength
Francis Ngannou is shaping up for only his second professional boxing contest against Anthony Joshua, but is looking to ‘take his soul’, he says.
French-Cameroonian Ngannou is a former UFC champion who switched to boxing last year. After one training camp with help from the legendary Mike Tyson he took on WBC and lineal champion Tyson Fury. He impressed many who thought he had no chance by securing a knockdown in round three and only narrowly losing out on points over 10 rounds. His efforts did however earn him a ranking in the WBC Top 10.
Next up he takes on former two-time champion Joshua on March 8 in Saudi Arabia. Joshua is on a good run himself after three wins last year against Jermian Franklin, Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin, and the night has another good undercard with the likes of IBF mandatory Filip Hrgovic also set to feature.
Speaking to Jake Humphries’ High Performance podcast he has now spoken about what he plans to do in the fight.
“They say never say never, nothing is impossible. We don’t know the strength of Anthony Joshua but even though I don’t believe he has that strength, we’re going to find out in two months. And I think the reverse is going to happen and I’m going to be the one who takes his soul.”
