Francis Ngannou is confident in his ability to turn out any heavyweight’s lights if he lands on them
Francis Ngannou is not short on confidence ahead of his upcoming fight and has now declared he thinks he could knock out everybody in the division.
He built up a fearsome record in the UFC on his road to becoming champion, and in his first ever fight in the squared circle he showed some of that power by knocking down Tyson Fury in the third round of their 10-round meeting in October 2023.
He eventually ran out a points loser but put on a superb showing that impressed the boxing world and earned him a ranking with the WBC as well as this shot at Anthony Joshua this weekend.
The fight takes place in Saudi Arabia with a fine undercard featuring the likes of Zhilei Zhang vs Joseph Parker, Rey Vargas vs Nick Ball and many more.
Ahead of that, he has been speaking to Sky Sports about his power, “Of course, I believe if I land on anybody I will knock him out. Now the question is how to land. Everybody in the division can knock everybody out, but how to land to carry that over from first round to the fifth round to 10 rounds and still hit somebody hard and knock them out after all the fatigue and everything, it’s a chess game.”
He was then asked about his lack of boxing experience, “It’s not a concern for me that I don’t have any experience. But I have a lot of life and fighting experience. You are born a fighter, you don’t become a fighter, I do believe that.”
Should he manage to get the win, he would then likely get a shot at the undisputed title depending on who wins on May 18 between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
