Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall heated argument transcribed in detail
The two super lightweight enemies Taylor and Catterall engaged in a fiery back-and-forth at their first press conference on Monday, showing early signs of a lively build-up to their highly-anticipated rematch on April 27.
Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) has been clamouring for a shot at revenge since he was on the wrong end of a contentious split decision when he faced his rival back in February 2022.
Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs), meanwhile, looks to get the fans back on his side with a more convincing win when he faces Catterall at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
With plenty of needle between the pair, things began to heat up at Monday’s presser.
When they were separated after a brief tussle, Catterall said: “You’re done; you’re finished.”
“Come on here then you little rat,” Taylor replied.
“You can’t even see straight,” said Catterall.
Taylor responded: “I can see straight now, you are f***ed.
Catterall then said: “Have you been drinking? See you tomorrow you little S***house.
With “El Gato’s” manager, Sam Jones, voicing his thoughts on Taylor – suggesting the Scotsman should have three defeats on his record, to Catterall, Regis Prograis and Teofimo Lopez – the bad blood, even between the two teams, was there for all to see.
Taylor comes off a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Lopez in June last year, when he was comprehensively outworked by the younger champion.
Many then speculated that the 33-year-old would move up to welterweight but, remaining in the division where he became the undisputed champion, Taylor now looks to reignite his career, hoping to get back to winning ways under trainer Joe McNally.
Catterall comes off a dominant performance over Jorge Linares, which saw him outbox his veteran opponent over 12 rounds at the Echo Arena, Liverpool in October last year.
But now, the British fight fans are treated to an unrelenting rivalry that promises to deliver an enthralling spectacle in the ring.
