Floyd Mayweather attacked while walking in London last night
On December 10, footage emerged on social media of Floyd Mayweather, accompanied by his security and entourage, walking through London after dark, near Hatton Garden.
The 50-second clip was narrated by the bystander filming, who said, “I mean, Mayweather just got punched up, bro.”
Mayweather is ushered into a waiting car but he turns to confront an angry mob shouting abuse at him.
His security team ordered him into the car and someone can be seen throwing something at him as he is getting in. The crowd continues to shout abuse as his care pulls away.
The reports online are that he was attacked for showing his support to Israel, although this is not confirmed.
The five-weight world champion, who retired unbeaten at 5-0, published this statement today:
“Let me set the record straight… there’s no truth to the rumours going around. I wasn’t punched up or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is my security doing their job to keep things under control.
“I was in the UK for a quick 48-hour stop to do some shopping, and unfortunately, people let jealousy and negativity fuel false stories. I’m perfectly fine, and there’s really nothing more to it.”
