Felix Cash hoping the change will help revitalise his career
Felix Cash last boxed in December 2022, however, the Brit is set to lace up again, as he shares the ring with Tyler Denny on June 22.
Cash will be hoping to claim the EBU middleweight strap, as his opponent makes his first title defence after winning the title in November 2023.
The fight will mark Cash’s first venture into the ring since parting ways with his former trainer Tony Sims.
The former contender has instead chosen to pair up with renowned coach Adam Booth. The 55-year-old has nurtured several hungry fighters to stardom, perhaps best known for his long-time coaching of former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye.
Speaking to Seconds Out, the 31-year-old stated that he hopes this change will help revitalize his career.
“Listen, a lot of things went wrong at Tony’s gym. Not Tony’s fault at all. I wouldn’t say it was Tony’s fault, it was more on my behalf, that a few things that did go wrong went wrong.
“I just thought, y’know, I need a change. I sat down with Tony, we spoke and I just thought I needed a fresh start, to give me a refresh and a new boost into my career.
“I was down there, I was away from my family quite a lot down in Brentwood. I moved down there, I was down there for two and a half years, and then obviously, all of the s**t that was going on too. I just think I needed a change.”
Cash found success training with Sims, winning Commonwealth titles and cementing himself as a real contender at 160 lbs, however after facing some personal problems he found his career stagnate. Hopefully, a fresh start is all the Berkshire fighter needs to get his career back on track.
