Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois now has a date and venue reported
British boxers Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) have been locked in talks over a Battle of Britain for the last few days, but now the WBO world heavyweight title fight has been confirmed for Saturday, May 9 by Ariel Helwani.
Derek Chisora also confirmed the news at the weekend, hilariously telling media outlet SecondsOut that he knows Wardley-Dubois is a done deal, but not to tell anyone. The heavyweights will headline a Queensberry Promotions event, live on DAZN, with the O2 Arena the leading contender for the venue, according to The Sun.
31-year-old Wardley is the reigning WBO world heavyweight champion after being elevated from Interim titleholder last December.
Dubois, 28, is a former IBF world heavyweight champion. He, too, was elevated from Interim to world champion, but legitimately won his world title in the ring when he KO’d Anthony Joshua in sensational fashion in five one-sided rounds at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.
Ipswich’s Wardley has yet to win his world title in the same way, so his determination against Dubois is going to be stratospheric.
This Battle of Britain will be fierce, with both Brits sporting a 95% KO ratio. They share 42 wins and 40 knockouts between them, so it’s unlikely this heavyweight world championship clash is going to go a full 12-rounds.
