Errol Spence replied to talks of a Keith Thurman fight rather abruptly
Errol Spence is looking to get back to winning ways whenever he returns to the ring but has made a damning response to suggestions that he should fight Keith Thurman next.
Spence lost out in a historic undisputed fight with Terrence Crawford last July. All four of the major world welterweight titles were on the line and at that point both Americans were highly rated and unbeaten.
It was Crawford who came out on top of with the emphatic ninth-round stoppage win. The result will have been a difficult one for Spence to take given how impressive he had been up to that point with wins over the likes of Kell Brook, Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia.
Since then both men have remained out of action though a rumoured rematch clause could be the reason for that. Crawford has been linked with many names from Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to most recently his sometime gym mate Chris Eubank Jr. As of yet, he has no opponent locked in for his next fight.
This week, it was suggested in a post on X by Champside that Keith Thurman would be a good comeback fight for Spence, who had a dismissive one word response:
“Nahh.”
Thurman hasn’t fought for a couple of years since losing to Manny Pacquiao and was due to fight soon on Amazon Prime against young contender Tim Tzsyu, but had to pull out with a bicep injury, making a match-up between these two even less likely to happen any time soon.
