Eddie Hearn scrutinises Ryan Garcia’s chances of beating Devin Haney
Ryan Garcia’s behaviour in the run-up to his fight with Devin Haney has got plenty of people talking and now promoter Eddie Hearn has had his say.
This fight has made plenty of headlines in the run-up to it with Garcia behaving erratically on several occasions. He has shown up on a horse to a press conference, leaked sparring footage of Haney and Gervonat Davis, has complained about ticket prices and location, and said that if the New York Commission try to assess his mental health he will sue.
Meanwhile, his ex-wife has also expressed concern for the fighter who is going for world honours for the first time against Haney, a former undisputed lightweight champion turned super lightweight king who he has offered to make a huge bet for this fight.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Hearn gave his view on everything that has been going on.
“I can’t wait. I think it’s a great fight. I don’t know what to expect from Ryan Garcia, I’m looking forward to going out next week. What I’m seeing is odd behaviour. But who knows. They’re around him every day, they know him. It’s not for me to comment, I’ve not met the bloke, I’ve never had a conversation with him, but this week under the microscope of the media in New York it’s going to be wild.
“But it’s going to be a massive fight come Saturday and I expect Devin to do a job on him.”
Haney will indeed be looking for a second straight knockout to defend his super lightweight world title.
