Eddie Hearn lists the five fights he’d make if Matchroom-Golden Boy 5 vs 5 event gets made
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has listed the five fights he would like to make if the Matchroom-Golden Boy 5 vs 5 event gets made in 2025.
On Saturday, June 1st, the UK’s top two promoters, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, pitted their best fighters against each other in a historic first-of-its-kind 5 vs 5 event, featuring the likes of Nick Ball, Daniel Dubois, Hamzah Sheeraz, Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
Warren’s Queensberry Promotions came out on top, winning all five of their matchups, with a final score reading 8-0 in favour of the 72-year-old’s superior stable.
Now, the concept is being discussed by other promotional outfits, such as BOXXER and Golden Boy, following the huge success of the first event.
Naturally, the long-running feud between Briton Hearn and American De La Hoya will make for a fantastic event for the rivals to try to get one-up on each other.
So, Hearn took to X to name his five fights.
Matchroom 5 vs Golden Boy 5
Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis vs Ryan Garcia
Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda
Israil Madrimov vs Vergil Ortiz
Jai Opetaia vs Gilberto Ramirez
Jack Catterall vs Jose Ramirez
Reactions
“Those are good matches but won’t happen… why not make Boots vs Crawford? Ryan Garcia is suspended”
“I rate Catterall but not much to see him a 5vs5, why not throw Bam in there (unless weight classes are already set)”
“Don’t do Ryan [Garcia] dirty like that, he’d get destroyed”
“Decent list”
“I want Ryan Garcia vs Tank once more”
“5-0 Hearn”
“That would be a great card”
“Could be a Matchroom clean sweep that. Brilliant fights. But Oscar’s just saying it as he’s a bitter man who hates Hearn, high as hell on coke. It won’t happen”
“Boots vs Ryan [Garcia] is so unserious”
“Madrimov-Ortiz is the only realistic one happening”
