Eddie Hearn isn’t treating Dubois as a world champion until he beats Joshua
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, in an interview with Betfred, has claimed that he believes a fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will happen regardless of what occurs during their respective upcoming fights against Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk, and doubts there will be an Oasis reunion at Wembley Stadium on September 21 when Liam Gallagher is scheduled to perform before the bout.
On Dubois vs AJ: “Dubois fought Usyk for the title and gave a decent account of himself. He’s come back and beaten [Jarrell] Miller and Hrgović, and I think this is the fight that Dubois should fight to become world heavyweight champion because he was elevated to a full champion and I don’t like that route.
“If he beats AJ, then fair play, you’re world champion. Is he a world champion now? He is on paper, but I view this as a vacant world heavyweight title fight.”
On a potential AJ vs Fury fight: “Everybody’s always talked about that fight and I believe it’ll happen whatever happens on the 21st of September and 21st of December. In an ideal world, they will win their respective fights and then you’ve got the biggest fight in the history of the sport. Our focus now is on September 21st and then it’s over to Tyson Fury to deliver the goods.”
On a potential Oasis reunion at Dubois vs AJ: “I doubt it. I think Oasis have their own plans for their reunion, but if there was anybody that could deliver it, I would say it’s Turki Al-Sheikh. I’m sure those conversations would have been had, but my guess is that Oasis will be starting their reunion at the beginning of their tour.”
