Eddie Hearn-BOXXER rivalry rages on
Eddie Hearn’s ongoing beef with promotional rival Boxxer has continued as he fires shots at them over Dalton Smith vs Adam Azim and asks ‘why lie to the public?’
Hearn is the Matchroom CEO who promotes Dalton Smith and many others and he recently teased Sky Sport’s promoters Boxxer by saying that he would one day like to have one of their main stars fighting with him.
After that, he started up a heated exchange about the potential battle between two undefeated Brits in Smith and Azim by saying that Azim would likely be pulled out of the fight by Boxxer, who have done just that before when they said that their man Frazer Clarke was not ready to take on Matchroom’s Fabio Wardley, although a deal has since been done for that fight and the pair come together on March 31st.
Now, speaking to the recently relaunched BoxNation channel, he was asked about the status of the fight once more.
“They’re pulling him out of the fight. We’ve been told they’re pulling him out of the fight but they won’t do it. It’s so painful. Frank Smith spoke to Ben Shalom who told him we’re not taking the fight. We’ll do it later but not next. It has to be next, it’s been ordered, so pull him out of the fight. The longer it goes on the more embarrassing it gets for Adam Azim, who is a great young fighter. There’s no shame in saying you’re not ready, but don’t be calling out Keyshawn Davis and all these other fighters.”
Smith versus Azim represents a great fight between two fine prospects so it’s a shame if they can’t get this one on.
