There’s talk of Filip Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois for June 1 in Saudi Arabia
Online Boxing Editor for talkSPORT, Micheal Benson, shared the following tweet on March 20: “Filip Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois is in the works for June 1st in Saudi Arabia, according to Hrgovic’s co-trainer Ronnie Shields.”
Filip Hrgovic was last in action in December 2023 on the undercard of Joshua-Wallin in Saudi Arabia. The unbeaten Croatian destroyed overmatched 42-year-old Mark De Mori in 106 seconds, which many believed to be an unproductive exercise.Dubois was also on that same card in Riyadh on the eve of Christmas Eve, but his experience was far more fruitful, having to fight through adversity against unbeaten dangerman Jarrell Miller to win one of his toughest fights via 10th-round TKO.
The south Londoner, trained by Don Charles, endured several torrid rounds in the middle of the contest from the advancing American, who weighed in at 333lbs, but he withstood the hardship like a true champion to win the fight with eight seconds to go.
Reactions from fight fans was mostly positive and early comments suggest the public are expecting a 50-50 contest.
One Twitter user said, “Good fight 60-40 in Hrgovic’s favour but Dubois has a great chance.”
Another stated, “Dubois KOs him and sets up a fight with Joshua.”
