Dillian Whyte reveals his Wardley-Clarke scoring
Former British champion Dillian Whyte has admitted that he had a differing opinion to many who watched last Sunday’s domestic dust-up between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke for the coveted Lonsdale belt.
Heavyweights Wardley and Clarke endured a bloodied war that got the whole country talking on Easter Sunday in a tremendous advert for British boxing that ultimately resulted in a draw, and an official second defence of the belt for Wardley.
Although most felt a draw was a fair outcome, with the guts and bravery of both men meaning neither deserved to lose, some leant towards Clarke who outlanded the champion in eight of the 12 rounds but was knocked down and had a point deducted.
Yet in an interview with Sky Sports, Whyte, who manages Wardley, explained why he believed his man had done enough, before admitting that he is a hopeful of a rematch at Portman Road, home of Wardley’s beloved Ipswich Town F.C.

“I thought that Fabio had it by two rounds. I thought that, as the champion he did enough, with the heart he showed, the courage he showed. He was dominating the rounds as well, Frazer would start well but Wardley was dominating the ends of the rounds, so I definitely thought that he [Wardley] had won it by two rounds.
Yes. I love that [idea of a rematch at Portman Road], that will be great, but we have to wait and see.”
“There is no point speaking to him [about the rematch] now, he has got a lot of emotions going through his body, he has just had a massive adrenaline dump up and down. Sometimes it is not good to speak to fighters like that because you don’t know where they are at mentally.”
Regardless of the result, both men have rightfully received huge credit for what could well be a fight of the year candidate, as fans all hope for a decisive rematch.
