Fresh from his clearance to return to boxing, Dillian Whyte already has a date and opponent confirmed
Having been cleared of any wrongdoing following a failed drugs test last summer, Dillian Whyte has instantly secured a comeback fight, in just 10 days time.
Dillian Whyte will fight Christian Hammer on Sunday, March 17 at The TF Royal in Castlebar.
The heavyweights will clash on the undercard of Ray Moylette’s final fight against former Junior World amateur champion Jake Tinklin of Wales on the celebrated St Patrick’s Day.
Hammer’s last fight was 20 months ago, in 2022, when he lost to Joe Joyce in four rounds.
The Romanian-born German has only won two from his last six bouts, and is a former WBO European champion.
Whyte’s last fight was also in 2022, in November, when he just managed to get the victory over Jermaine Franklin on a mixed decision where he was actually outlanded by the American.
Both heavyweights in their mid-30s have been inactive, each with losses on their records, so it could be deemed an even affair, but it’s more likely that Hammer has been picked as an easy target for Whyte to look good against in a hurried bid to get straight back into the mix again.
