Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia set for press tour open to the public
Ahead of their showdown on April 20, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are to head out on a press tour to promote the fight.
Ryan Garcia, the super-lightweight contender, is gearing up for his inaugural world title bout against the undefeated compatriot Devin Haney. Their contest for the WBC 140lb title comes after weeks of back and forth on social media and even a heated and physical altercation in person.
It makes a big step up for Garcia who is coming off the back of a loss to Gervonta Davis last April that saw him stopped with a bodyshot in the seventh round. However, the social media sensation has bounced back with a win already over Oscar Duarte, stopping the Mexican in the eighth round in December 2023.
Haney is a two-weight world champion who brushed aside the challenge of Regis Prograis most recently and will be many people’s favourite in the fight.
Initially slated to face Rolando Romero, Garcia’s plans took a turn as the WBA champion opted to defend his title against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on March 30th, following a controversial victory over Ismael Barroso last year, which is why Garcia is now facing Haney.
In a message posted on X by boxing journalist Michael Benson, details of the press tour ahead of the fight have been revealed, beginning in New York, followed by Los Angeles.
“Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia first press conferences scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 27th in New York at 1:30pm ET (6:30pm UK time) and Thursday, Feb 29th in LA at 1pm PT (9pm UK time).
“Both open to public at Palladium Times Square and Avalon Hollywood.”

Although the countdown to his next fight is now on, Garcia has recently named the one fighter he said he would never face in the ring.
