The big 5-0 – Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder
Fight 50 for Delboy and Bronze Bomber
Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) vs Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) has been confirmed for the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, April 4, live on DAZN.
The Queensberry Promotions event will be the 50th professional fight for both boxers.
42-year-old Chisora said last year that he would retire after his 50th fight, which would take place overseas, but the Briton is now set to face American Wilder on home soil.
The heavyweight pair were due to fight 13 years ago but Wilder withdrew from the bout after an arrest for domestic violence prevented him from travelling to the UK.
Zimbabwe-born Chisora is a two-time world title contender, currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak, including points victories over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin.
Wilder held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020, winning his first 40 fights, and was once considered the division’s most fearsome puncher.
He drew with Tyson Fury in 2018 in the first instalment of their epic trilogy, then suffered successive knockout defeats by the “Gypsy King” in 2020 and 2021.
Those defeats kickstarted a losing streak for the Alabaman, who lost four from five fights between 2020-2024, but he returned in June 2025, after more than a year out, with a seventh-round stoppage of Texan heavyweight champion, Tyrrell Anthony Herndon.
Both boxers are known for their aggression, determination, durability, pride and punching power, so this half-century showdown is guaranteed to produce fireworks on the Greenwich Peninsula on the same day in history – April 4, 1581 – that Francis Drake was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I aboard his galleon, the “Golden Hind”, less than three miles away in Deptford.
Neither will be knighted on this night, but one will have their hand raised in what will be the greatest of honours in the British Empire.
