Dave Allen reveals how one triggering comment on Twitter sparked the rematch with Johnny Fisher that he didn’t even want
Doncaster heavyweight, Dave Allen, brutally stopped Johnny Fisher in five rounds in their 2025 rematch after dropping the Essex star twice in a one-sided beatdown. And Allen has now admitted it was Fisher’s dad, ‘Big Johnny Fisher’, accusing him of “pricing himself out” that finally lit the fire.
“I said to Johnny [after the first fight] ‘don’t take the rematch because I’ll hammer you next time. I’m too experienced. Don’t box me again.’ I had every intention of boxing someone else. I weren’t bothered, I didn’t really want to box Johnny again,” ‘The White Rhino admitted.
“People kept chirping up and Eddie Hearn was telling me they really wanted the rematch. I got on Twitter and said, ‘Is this fight going to happen?’ They said it can do and I said, ‘Sound, let’s do it then.’ His dad left a comment saying, ‘Dave Allen don’t want the rematch, he’s priced himself out.’ As soon as I saw that comment, I just thought, ‘Alright, that’s it then.’
“And you know what? I didn’t even f***ing train for the rematch really. Fat as butter. But I knew I’d beat him, I had his number all day long, as soon as I knocked him over, I didn’t celebrate because I do like actually like him, genuinely!”
Allen was the subjected to a one-sided beatdown himself, last night at Doncaster FC’s stadium, at the hands of far superior heavyweight, Filip Hrgovic.
