Darren Till vs Tommy Fury
As former UFC star turned boxer Darren Till prepares for his highly anticipated bout against Tommy Fury in January 2025, he has let loose on the former Love Island star.
With potential big money fights with Jake Paul and KSI possible after dealing with Fury, Till has his eyes set on giving Tommy the first loss of his career.
Speaking to Norske Bettingsider, Darren Till said that he would lose his entire fight purse if he kicks Tommy Fury in the head… but doesn’t care about that.
“I will lose all of it. All of my money will go. But I don’t really care, I’m not arsed. I’m going to make this a dog fight.
“Wonderboy took about 50 grand off me. But I’m not arsed. I don’t care. I know there’s a little thing going on lately people talking about ‘why’s Darren Till saying he’s not arsed’?. I’m just genuinely not arsed. It’s not a bad thing. Like, trust me, I’m the most loving man to my kids, to my woman, to my friends. But I just genuinely don’t care. You know what I care about? Just having a laugh and violence.
“It’s gonna be a big pay-per-view, I think. Let’s just say I’ve got my eye on a few Rolexes after this fight.
“Obviously I am sharing the Pay-Per-view buys. Who the f*** sold the press conference? The f****** Fury’s didn’t sell it. What did they do? They walked out. I am Misfits. KSI’s a bum. Tommy Fury’s a bum. Jake Paul’s a bum. I am Misfits. I run Misfits now.
Despite ‘TNT’ Fury fighting at light-heavyweight and cruiserweight during his short 10-fight career, the match with Till will be held at heavyweight over 8×3 minute rounds.
“Eight three minute rounds at heavyweight with proper gloves and I’m going to come and f*** him up. I’m going to f**** you up, Tommy. I am proper gonna f*** you. And if I can’t f*** you up, I’m gonna f*** your dad up. Little old f****** John,” the 31-year-old raged.
“I’m bringing in a few young, fast amateurs. I want speed in there. I’ve got my first sparring this week to get my eye. We’ve got a strong guy from the Bare Knuckle who’s coming in to rough me up. I’ve got a tall heavyweight coming in. He’s got long-range arms. So, yeah. I’m fired up. I can’t wait for Christmas. Christmas is gonna be lonely. Or do you know what? It might not be lonely. I might just get on the ale. Who gives a f***? But I’m absolutely gutted. I love Christmas. I love getting on the ale over Christmas. I love going out for three-day benders.”
Till’s Prediction
“I think technically I’m better than him. I do. I genuinely think people are going to be shocked. I don’t want to give too much away. But I think I’m genuinely going to shock a lot of people. I think I’m gonna break Tommy down in the later rounds—rounds five and six.
“For two years I’ve been learning a lot off world class fighters; Liam Smith, Josh Taylor, Callum Smith, JJ Metcalf, Dennis McCann, Frankie Stringer, Caoimhín Agyarko, Garry Cully, Piece O’Leary. For two years I’ve been training with Dec and Joe. I’ve loved every second of it.
“I just want to go out there and bring pure violence. If they love it, they love it. If they don’t. There are so many naysayers, just f*** off.
“What’s the latest one? I get called a cokehead quite a lot. I don’t know where that’s coming from because I’m not a coke head. I get called a lot of things “tubby” is the latest one because I’m a bit fat.”
Tommy Fury narrowly defeated Jake Paul in Diriyah in February 2023, via split decision, with an eighth round knockdown for Paul evening up the scorecards.
Following that, Tommy beat KSI over six rounds in October the same year. He hasn’t fought a boxer for over two-and-a-half years now.
“I think Tommy’s a better boxer [than Jake Paul],” Till admitted. I think he’s from a better boxing family. I think he’s had more experience. I think he has a little bit more ring-IQ and is cleverer than Jake Paul. He’s obviously beat Jake as well. So yeah, I think Tommy is probably the better boxer than Jake. You could see just that experience he had over Jake. Jake’s not bad. He’s alright. He obviously puts a lot of work and effort in. But he’s making a big deal of fighting Mike Tyson but come on, let’s fight someone your own size and power.”
During the fight announcement, Tommy’s dad, John Fury, predictably played up for the cameras by throwing a glass of water at Till from across the table, which caused the event to descend into chaos.
Till reflected on the incident, “Even my girlfriend asked me; she was like, ‘were you messing about for the camera there Darren?’ And I went, ‘what do you think?’
“He’s [John Fury] entertaining. He’s never going to do anything he says. We know his threats are empty. My threats are certainly not empty, you know. I’m ready at any time. I really am. He obviously knows boxing. He’s got good knowledge. He’s got Tyson. I can’t sit here and discredit them in that way. They know a hell of a lot more about boxing than me.
“He’s obviously got his son’s best interest at heart. Just the fact that Tommy has to bring his dad everywhere with him—I’m not into that, no. But it’s a gimmick. It works. Fair play. Do what you’re doing.
“People really need to realize how much of a high-level elite striker I am. At the time Stephen Thompson was considered one of the best strikers in the UFC. I beat him. Robert Whitaker, Kelvin Gastelum, even the first round with Masvidal and Cowboy. Even Driccus.
“My striking and my left hand, my IQ, I really feel it’s second to none. When I get in there, I’m not the strongest, the toughest. I don’t look the best with abs, but I’m the cleverest striker. I don’t struggle with any of the boxers that come in the gym, I’m certainly not going to struggle with Tommy. I’m a very crafty striker. It’s like it’s a chess game to me. I always said it when I fought Stephen, when I fought Robert. It’s a chess match.
“Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall, look at Islam, look at Khabib, look at Conor McGregor, look at Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva. They all had such high-level octagon IQ. Same as the ring IQ. You just watch Floyd Mayweather, he wasn’t the strongest, he wasn’t the hardest puncher but he had IQ.
“More than likely, it’s always the guy with the IQ who’s gonna win. And I’ve got that. I’m not the strongest. Half of these guys are on steroids. Tommy looks like he’s on steroids himself, but my IQ’s superior. I know it is.
Till once sparred with Tyson Fury and the footage is avail bale to watch on YouTube.
“It was just tongue in cheek, and it’s on YouTube. You can see me and him sparring. We’re just having a little mess around, but I go for the takedown, and, you know, obviously just take him down easily. So if I can take Tyson down, I can definitely take little John down and Tommy, can’t I?
“Here’s the thing. I’m a realist. Nobody in that press conference was a threat to me—not John, not Tommy. Because if I want to turn, and I turn, and if someone punches me, I’ll kick them in the face. I will. I can get my leg up as quick as a jab. I’ll kick them in the face, take them down, and then they’re in a world of trouble.
“People like to laugh and joke, “Oh, Till got taken down by Driccus Du Plesis”, he’s the current UFC Middleweight Champion. I have only ever been beaten by the best fighters on planet earth. Nobody who’s not the best can beat me. And I have beat the best.
“Let’s not get it twisted out here about what my caliber of fighting IQ level is. I never, ever lost outside the UFC. Not in Brazil, not in England, not anywhere. There’s only a few people who are capable of that shit.”
