Conor Benn appeal hearing with British Board set to take place this month
After one of the most drawn-out sagas in boxing, Conor Benn finally has an appeal hearing date with the British Boxing Board of Control as he continues his fight to clear his name.
The story started back in October 2023 when Benn failed a doping test in the build-up to his grudge match with fellow Brit Chris Eubank Jr.
He has been out of action but for one fight back in September against Rodolfo Orozco in Orlando and has spent much of the time in-between vehemently denying he ever ingested anything illegal while many people still want to see the fight with Eubank Jr at some point.
However, 27-year-old Benn remains without a license to fight under the auspices of the British Boxing Board Of Control but it seems he now has the hearing he has long been chasing in order to try and sort the issue once and for all.
Speaking to talkSport, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed it could take place in February.
“He’s had two hearings – one with the WBC which was successful and he cleared his name, then he had a meeting with UKAD and he won and they lifted his suspension then the British Board decided to appeal back in August or September.
“We now finally have an appeal date in February and hopefully, that will be the end of the situation, he will win and we will move forward.”
Benn is next out this weekend in Las Vegas against ‘Pistol Pete’ Dobson, a welterweight fighter who has been relatively inactive over the years but is still unbeaten. He has taken umbrage with bookmakers who make him a wide outside bet for the win at 8/1.
