Hollywood is coming to Nottingham, according to Carl Froch
Carl Froch is one of boxing’s seldom success stories, retiring aged 36 with enough money in the bank and a legacy in the sport secured for life, certified by his induction into the International Hall of Fame in 2023.
Now aged 46, ‘The Cobra’ has turned his hand to punditry and even has his own YouTube channel with 85k subscribers.
But now, 10 years after retirement, it seems that Hollywood is beckoning for the former super middleweight world champion, as actor Shia LaBeouf is coming to Nottingham.
Froch explained, “I’m working on a film called Salvable and I’m doing the fight scenes. It’s a boxing-gangster type film about a retired boxing journeyman pro getting back into boxing because his life is going nowhere and they want the fight scenes to look authentic and they want actors to look like they know what they’re doing.”
He then confirmed, “Shia LaBeouf is actually coming to Nottingham to spend a week on my building site to pick up the Nottingham accent. This fight is supposed to be set in Nottingham.
“I’ve got Toby Kebbel working on his jab and sharpening him up with his right hands, he’s got some amateur experience so he’s decent. I did some body sparring with him out in New York and showed Toby how to lose a few pounds and to make his abs come through and to get his shoulders and arms in shape.
“I’m also a technical advisor on the fight scenes so I’m going to be producing the fight scenes with the fight people. I’m quite excited. They might get me in the first fight scene as a trainer in the corner, a little cameo for me. But I’m taking it very seriously, I need to get the fighters to look like fighters.”
