Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch, renowned for his dedication to fitness, remains in peak condition even after retiring from professional boxing. Froch’s commitment to training, documented through meticulous diaries, and his disciplined approach prevented any post-fight weight gain. Years after his iconic bout against George Groves at Wembley, Froch openly admits to spending every day in the gym.
Froch’s enduring strength and fitness were instrumental in his ability to deliver powerful punches until the final moments of fights, as evidenced by his memorable knockout of Jermain Taylor in 2009. In a recent discussion on his show, Froch on Fighting, the former champion addressed a question from the public regarding a hypothetical matchup with Tony Bellew at cruiserweight.
Carl Froch has been training day in day out
Confident in his current physical condition, Froch expressed his belief that he would convincingly defeat Bellew. He emphasized his consistent training routine, asserting, “I’d absolutely hammer I think. I’m in shape, I think he’s lost a bit of shape. He’d argue otherwise but no we had some great sparring me and Tony. He put me down in sparring, he says it was a right hand, I think it was a left hook, but I can’t remember so it must have been pretty good. ”
Though Froch acknowledged being put down, he expressed confidence in his ability to emerge victorious in a present-day bout.
“I got off the canvas and finished the spar pretty good but right now me and Tony Bellew in a boxing ring I think I’d do him. I’m in the gym every day, I hit the bag every day for half an hour. I’d be a good fight wouldn’t it but I think I’d have chinned him.”
