Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia officially announced
After weeks of speculation, Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia have finally confirmed they are to fight one another with a date and venue now revealed.
This fight has not seemingly been an easy one to negotiate with plenty of back and forth, rumours and hearsay but no official word until now. We have heard that Canelo reportedly did not want to sign to fight Managua and then David Benavidez which was the offer made to him by his broadcasters PBC, so he is said to have left and looked to work again with Matchroom after Jermall Carlo and also Edward Berlanga, and even welterweight king Terrence Crawford, were also suggested as possible opponents, though he has continued to work hard int he gym in the meantime.
But it is Munguia who gets the nod. He is a young Mexican who is yet to lose in the ring and last time out stopped John Ryder, which is something Canelo could not do when the pair met earlier last year in Mexico.
A new messaged posted on X by DAZN shares full details of this interesting match-up between the current undisputed super-middleweight title holder and the young challenger, while details of the potential purses have also been revealed.
