Canelo questions whether Andre Ward is jealous of him
Canelo Alvarez has responded to some swipes from Andre Ward who he thinks is jealous of him and has said “I never say anything about him.”
Alvarez is seen by many as a pound-for-pound great. He has fought over 50 times and lost just twice – once early in his career to Floyd Mayweather, and once more recently when stepping up in weight to take on the masterful light heavyweight champion, Dimitry Bivol.
Along the way he has rarely shied from a challenge and has beaten the likes of Danny Jacobs, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Gennady Golovkin, John Ryder and many more on his way to becoming a multi-weight champion.
He currently holds all four belts in the super middleweight division, which is something that Ward never managed to do, and will defend them on his traditional Cinco De Mayo fight date against Jaime Munguia with whom he faced-off recently.
Ahead of that, Ward recently claimed that Canelo cannot call himself the best fighter in the world and now the Mexican has responded in a video from KO Sports.
“I have nothing to say about him. He can say whatever he wants. Maybe he wants a fight with me but he’s never gonna get it. He wants a payday maybe.”
He was then asked if it could be jealousy.
“What else? I never met him, I never talk to him, I never say anything about him.”
