Undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez has been ordered by the IBF to face their mandatory challenger next
The International Boxing Federation have ordered their super-middleweight titleholder Saul Canelo Alvarez (61-2-2, 39KO) to fight their mandatory contender, William Scull (22-0, 9KO).
Unbeaten Cuban, William Scull Yero, is the IBF No.1 contender after winning their Latino title in 2021. He has also won a South American and an IBO International super-middleweight title.
His last fight took place in America, but, prior to that, his last eight bouts were in Germany, where he is based.
Known as ‘El Indomable’, Scull was born in Matanzas Cuba, on June 6, 1992, and is currently 31-years-old.
33-year-old Mexican megastar, Canelo, is fresh from defeating fellow Mexican, Jaime Munguia, on Cinco De Mayo dropping his unbeaten 43-0 countryman on the way to obtaining a unanimous decision win.
Scull fought on the undercard against 16-1 American prospect, Sean Hemphill, and replicated Canelo’s performance to drop his opponent in round five, before earning a unanimous decision victory, albeit over eight rounds instead of 12.
Fight fans will not welcome the news of this undefeated yet obscure opponent, especially when there’s the David Benavidez fight that the public are demanding, as well as Jermall Charlo, even up-and-coming contenders such as Christian Mbilli, Edgar Berlanga, and David Morrell would be received warmly.
The IBO World super-middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias has also been making headlines lately and could represent a respectable and deserved contender.
