Three world title clashes added to Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia card
The full card for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s upcoming fight with fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia has now been revealed.
The main event will see ‘Canelo’ defending all four of his undisputed super middleweight titles on his traditional Cinco De Mayo fight weekend.
Both men have a common recent opponent in Briton John Ryder. ‘Canelo’ beat the tough challenger on points over 12 bloodied rounds and put him down once, while Munguia put him down several times and won by knockout and consequently sent Ryder into retirement in the process.
With just a month to go, the full card has now been revealed. The packed event will be shown on Prime Video and is under the auspices of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) who have bolstered the show with three world title fights, featuring the comeback of three former champions.
The 12-round co-main event will see Mario “El Azteca” Barrios step up with a maiden defence of his Interim WBC Welterweight belt against Argentina’s Fabián “TNT” Maidana, a younger brother of the famous Marcos Maidana who twice fought Floyd Mayweather.
Additionally, the pay-per-view show will also feature the return of former world champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa, who defends his Interim WBC featherweight title over 12 rounds against former 122-pound world champion Jessie Magdaleno.
Finally, opening the pay-per-view card, undefeated Eimantas Stanionis, who is known for his aggressive style, will embark on his first defence of his WBA welterweight title against fellow unbeaten fighter Gabriel Maestre, also over 12 rounds.
