Canelo Alvarez impresses in new training footage
While the world awaits to find out exactly who Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is fighting next, the Mexican star has revealed a new training video that has him showing off his incredible speed and power.
Canelo has not fought since September last year when he beat the limited challenge of Jermell Carlo to defend and retain all four of his major super-middleweight titles. In May before that, he beat Brit John Ryder over 12 rounds, and is now looking to sort out an opponent for his traditional Cinco De Mayo date.
Many names have been in the offing, from David Benavidez, who has now moved up to light heavyweight for his next fight, to young Mexican challenger Jamie Munguia, via Charlo’s brother Jermall.
As of yet, nothing has been officially announced but there has been plenty of rumours including one that Canelo has ended his three-fight deal with PBC early as an agreement could not be made on his next opponent, although that might have been reversed in recent days.
One thing is for sure, the multi-weight champion and future Hall of Famer has kept busy in the gym. A new video shared on X by boxing journalist Michael Benson shows this with Canelo looking sharp as he smashes the water bag in a sweat suit.

Some think that Canelo has nothing to prove having won world titles up and down the weights over the years and more than 50 fights, while others are keen to see him take on the new challenge of the younger generation such as Benevidez.
