Canelo Alvarez claims that all Oscar De La Hoya does is say stupid thing
Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez has reignited his feud with his former promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, for his ‘stupid’ comments regarding the kick off press conference for his clash with fellow Mexican, Jaime Munguia.
De La Hoya and Canelo have had many rifts since they dramatically parted ways in 2020, although his latest dig is one that is sure to cause confusion.
The six-division world champion is promoting Munguia in the away corner, but labelled the Canelo-Munguia press conference as ‘boring’ on social media’ likening it to one of Alvarez’s recent fights, the last four of which have gone the distance.
Yesterday’s press conference was so boring like Canelo’s fights. Wait till I unleash.

De La Hoya bizarrely quipped, “Yesterday’s press conference was so boring like Canelo’s fights. Wait till I unleash.”
In response, Canelo told the LA Times that De La Hoya did not have the courage to speak up in person and claimed that the 51-year-old says ‘stupid’ things for attention, irrespective of the fact that he is potentially damaging sales for an event involving one of Golden Boy Promotions’ star attractions.
“If he does not have the courage say it right there at the presser – his own fighter Munguia is in the fight and he’s saying that about a presser of his own fighter. I think it’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and that’s what Oscar is.
“Oscar relies on nothing more than saying stupid things and that’s why people give him attention. But in his company he does nothing more than say stupid things, that’s all he knows how to do.”
Canelo-Munguia will take place on May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as Alvarez fights a Mexican for the first time in seven years.
